The Life Path / Expression Bridge number, and the Heart’s Desire / Personality Bridge number
are easily calculated; they are the difference between the two core numbers they represent.
For example, in Tom’s case, his Life Path is a 1 and his Expression a 4. Therefore, his
Life Path / Expression Bridge is (4 – 1) 3.
Similarly, the Heart’s Desire / Personality Bridge, in Tom’s case, is (9 – 4) = 5.
Bridge numbers are not shown in the color chart for the simple reason that I designed the
chart in ’82 and did not begin using Bridge numbers until ’84. (I note the Bridge numbers
on the charts manually; I have made it a habit to scribble remarks all over charts I use
for personal readings.)

THE MEANING OF THE LIFE PATH / EXPRESSION BRIDGE NUMBERS.
The Bridge numbers in your chart are the numbers that indicate how you can make the relationship
between the individual core numbers in your chart easier and more compatible. Bridge numbers
have the potential to "close the gap" between the Life Path and Expression number,
or the Heart's Desire and Personality number.
In this chapter we will explain what you can do to make your talents, strengths, and specific
abilities (Expression number) more easily available and fitting the needs of your main lesson(s),
and expected direction of growth (Life Path).
0 Life Path / Expression Bridge
The single digit values of your Life Path number and your Expression number are the same.
This is considered fortunate, and an opportunity to make real progress in the areas of
life expressed by the repeated number.
However, if your Life Path number and your Expression number are also identical to your
Heart's Desire number or your Personality number (described earlier in this reading), your
chart may be somewhat off balance. This may cause you to push the aspects of the repeated
number to excess. Read your Life Path again, and ask yourself if you have not focused too
much on the aspects described, at the cost of a more balanced approach.
1 Life Path / Expression Bridge
You should rely more on your own strengths and abilities. Be more decisive; don't beat

Life Path 7 and Expression 1 or vice versa.
The 7 and 1 mixture is generally harmonious, but the above mentioned advice is directed
to this combination as well. This combination often creates eccentrics - people who are
highly inventive and unconventional.
Life Path 8 and Expression 2 or vice versa.
The 8 and 2 cause similar struggles, but are often recognizable in broken romantic relationships
caused in part by over-sensitivity, criticism, a tendency to gossip, and large fluctuations
in financial matters. The positive side of this combination is your innate ability to negotiate.
Your are both the leader and the diplomat.
Life Path 9 and Expression 3 or vice versa.
This is a very creative combination. You are an artist at heart, and you must live according
to that. The difficulty here is in the suppression of talents, and the lack of serious application.
The bright side reveals a true gift to inspire and motivate large groups of people.
7 Life Path / Expression Bridge
Coming from either 8 and 1, or 9 and 2, this number urges you to spend more time and effort
on spiritual matters.
Check your Life Path and Expression numbers. If one of them is an eight, and the other
a one, this combination can cause a person to become too interested in material matters.
Excessive attachment to money, goods, and status quo can make you vulnerable to the temptations
of the material world.
If your Life Path and Expression numbers, are either 9 and 2 or vice versa, the temptation
to think that you are spending so much time and effort on the well-being of mankind that
you are on your way to sainthood is strong, and potentially self-deluding.
Righteousness, no matter who you are and what you have accomplished, is always an obstacle;
it brings prejudice, arrogance, and indifference.
There are two challenges here that may be particularly problematic for you: the need to
be more humble, and the responsibilities you have to yourself.
8 Life Path / Expression Bridge
The important thing here is understanding the function of money. Money is a tool for trading,
no more and no less. This bridge number is a result of having a Life Path and Expression
combination of 9 and 1 (or vice versa), and suggests an idealistic view of life. Sometimes
the idealism is taken too far and becomes impractical. This is often expressed in a dislike
for money.
However, occasionally, the 1 dominates the 9 to such an extent that the person becomes
obsessed with personal success. More often though, the 9 and the 1 together reveal the very
ambitious humanitarian who has the potential to do very well in the corporate world, or
any career that offers international connections and activities.

Several Bridge numbers can be found in your chart. The Bridge number between the Life Path
number and the Expression number was described earlier in your reading. The following Bridge
number relates to your Heart's Desire number and your Personality number. This Bridge number,
the Heart's Desire - Personality bridge, explains how you can make your deeper self -- your
needs and desires, your true nature -- more aligned with the part of your personality others
tend to recognize when they meet you. With a little exaggeration, you could say that your
Personality number is somewhat like your mask. It is the more superficial you; a protective
shield and a camouflage of the deeper you. You can easily imagine how much more comfortable,
and less self-conscious, you will be when your deeper and more real you is closer and more
fitting to the outer personality you show on a day to day basis.
0 Heart’s Desire / Personality Bridge
The single digit values of your Heart's Desire number and your Personality number are the
same.
This is considered fortunate. You are a WYSIWYG, What You See Is What You Get. You easily

The Karmic Lessons are found by finding which numbers are missing among the letters in
the full name at birth. You can have none, one, or several Karmic Lessons.
The number that is most often repeated in your name represents your specific field of expertise,
or a concentrated talent – this is called your Hidden Passion. As with Karmic Lessons, you
can have more than one Hidden Passion.
The Karmic Lessons and Hidden Passion chart is represented by a square divided in 9 smaller
squares. Each of those nine squares is numbered 1 through 9 and arranged in order starting
with 1 in the top left and ending with 9 in the lower right corner. In the top of each square
is another number indicating how many times the number below it is represented in the full
name at birth.
Tom Cruise, for example, has 4 letters with the value of 1 in his name. He has two letters
with the value of 2, two letters with the value of 3, and so forth.
Tom has no Karmic Lessons. None of the squares in the Karmic Lesson / Hidden Passion chart
has a zero in it, because at least 1 of each number is found in his name.
Notice, however, that he has more letters with the value of 1, than any other letters.
Therefore, his Hidden Passion is 1.
To find your Subconscious Self number, simply count the amount of numbers represented in
your name, as revealed in the Karmic Lesson chart; or subtract the number of Karmic Lessons
in your chart from 9 and arrive at your Subconscious Self number.
The Subconscious Self is represented in the color chart by a symbol that looks a bit like
an arched gateway. In Tom’s case, since he does not have any missing numbers in his full
name at birth (no Karmic Lessons), his Subconscious Self number is 9.
THE MEANING OF THE KARMIC LESSON NUMBERS.
So far, we have talked about the strongest, and usually the most obvious, aspects of a
person's character. But now we enter into the more hidden realms, where people are driven
by desires or ambitions that even they may not be aware of. In order to become free human
beings, we must make these subtle, unconscious traits conscious. We must become aware of
ourselves in our deepest recesses in order to take control of our lives. Otherwise, we are
slaves to our unconscious desires.
Numerology is based on the understanding that we enter life with certain strengths and
weaknesses. Karmic lessons are areas that we are currently weak in and must be faced and
worked on in this life. There can be more than one Karmic Lesson. These are indicated by
the absence of certain numbers in your name.
The letters and numbers of your name point to talents and abilities that you possess. These
characteristics can be compared to a workshop in which certain tools are available to you.
Missing numbers, those that are not represented in the letters in your name, imply tools
that are unavailable, and must be learned and mastered during this lifetime.
You may well recognize your Karmic Lessons as weaknesses you have learned to overcome in
the course of your life, however, the challenges implied in your Karmic Lessons will continue
to come up occasionally for the rest of your life.
For people with three or more numbers missing, it is supremely important to focus on your
career and talents, and to persevere in the face of any difficulty or obstacle. The kind
of keyhole energy suggested by such a name gives you the ability to achieve great success

matters will prevent you from experiencing the satisfaction of your true potential.

8 Karmic Lesson
You can attract a considerable amount of money and even be a good business person, but

problems with authority figures. This stems from a kind of know-it-all attitude and stubborn
behavior that prevents you from knowing your limits.

You must learn to broaden your view of life. You have to see things on a larger scale.
You do not realize the enormous potential you have in influencing your own destiny and that
